Sustainable Goat Production at the Ridge to Reef Demo Farm in Marilog
Goat production has long been part of our farming journey even before the R2R Demo Farm was formally established. Over the years, we have continuously raised and bred quality goats, including Anglo-Nubian crosses known for their adaptability, hardiness, and suitability to the Philippine tropical climate.
One exciting improvement we are happy to share today is our upgraded feeding system. To make feeding more efficient and sustainable, our team now uses a tricycle for daily grass collection and hauling, together with a grass shredder that helps process forage, reduce waste, and prolong the usability of cut grasses for our herd. 🌿
This simple innovation helps improve feeding management while supporting healthier and more productive livestock.
In the future, R2R also hopes to implement a goat dispersal program for qualified members of TAMMACO (Tammuwanan Agriculture Cooperative), a cooperative established and organized by R2R to support upland farmers in Davao City, with its main office in Marilog.
Small improvements today can create bigger opportunities for farming communities tomorrow.
