Polar: a blue tail Plakat or Betta Fish from Thailand

BLUE TAIL | This is Polar, a blue tail Plakat or Betta Fish from Thailand, our R2R Biotope Aquascape mainstay for the week. Betta Fish are reasonably intelligent; they tend to be more aware of their surroundings, like to explore their environment, claim personal areas, and they often develop fun personality “quirks.” They quickly learn to recognize their human companions, they know when feeding time is, and they get excited when you approach their aquarium. You can play with them and even train them to do tricks.

They are thought to be closely related to cichlids, a brilliant family of fish, and this is demonstrated by their high level of parental care for their young.
