HOCCI PMO Planning and Learning Exchange: Concept Note and Program, Calapan City |
The Healthy Oceans and Clean Cities Initiative (HOCCI) project seeks to address fundamental issues of plastic waste leakages to the marine environment in six target cities (Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Legazpi, Ormoc, Davao, and Manila), with different priority activities depending on the local context. R2R’s Mary Rose Ofianga, an Economist/SWM Specialist, attended the training to present the Project Concept Note for Davao City at the 3-day Planning And Learning Exchange Activity organized by HOCCI Project Management Office (PMO) in Calapan City, May 3-5, 2022.
The HOCCI is a regional project funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by UN-Habitat in the Philippines in cooperation with global, national, and local partners. HOCCI aims to help local governments and communities in the Philippines reduce marine plastic pollution in support of implementing the National Plan of Action on Marine Litter (NPOA-ML). Circular economy and reduce-reuse-recycle (3Rs) will be harnessed to reduce marine plastic waste pollution as an integral part of an overall solid waste management (SWM) program.
